Google Page Rank (PR) is a link analysis algorithm which assigns a numerical weight to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents. Its value determines the importance of a web page.
Page Rank (PR) relies on the vast link structure on the web and works as an indicator to show a page’s value on the web. A large part of search engine optimization includes links and when two pages are linking together, that means they are casting votes for each other. More the votes, Google will easily recognize it as an important page, thus giving it High Page Rank. Similarly, if the page is linked from pages that are high in quality and rank, it will be considered more important in search engines, especially on Google.
The name Page Rank, also known as PR, is a trademark of Google and PR of any page can easily be checked through the indicator “PageRank” provided within the Google toolbar.
